How My Training and Experience Benefits You and Differentiates Me from other Agents

First, as someone who has lived in the Dallas area for more than 40 years, I know our area.

As a licensed real estate Broker and Realtor®, I’m NOT just an agent. Brokers have a minimum of two years in the field experience and over 1,000 hours of classroom training. I have been licensed with TREC (the Texas Real Estate Commission) since 2002.

I am a Certified Short Sale and Foreclosure Resource (certified by NAR — the National Association of Realtors).

FEWER than 1% of Realtors® have achieved this critical training and SFR Certification for their clients. To take advantage of these special buying opportunities, you need someone who is trained to understand the process of dealing with short sales and foreclosures.

My real estate sales production puts me in the top 20% of real estate agents in the entire DFW area (according to MLS). Knowing how to get transactions done (and how to avoid the pitfalls that can kill a deal), while keeping my clients informed throughout the process, makes for happy clients. 🙂

And as someone with a background in the mortgage business, you benefit since I know how to communicate well with your lender, should you be getting a loan. You’ll also understand any property issues that can make obtaining financing difficult.

Plano Texas, Residential Oasis and Corporate Hub

Of all the communities in North Texas, Plano stands out for several quality-of-life reasons. It is a draw to over 273,000 suburban residents, as of a 2009 census estimate and is the 9th largest city in Texas. Even though Plano isn’t the county seat of Collin County (McKinney is), Plano surpassed McKinney’s population back in 1990.

In 2005, Plano was designated the best place to live in the western United States by CNN Money magazine. In 2006, Plano was selected as the 11th best place to live … in the whole United States … by CNN Money magazine.

In 2008, Forbes.com selected the 3 prestigious Dallas suburbs of Plano, University Park, and Highland Park as the three “Top Suburbs To Live Well” of Dallas. Previously, in 1994, Plano was recognized as an All-America City.

Plano is also corporate home to over some of the country’s largest and most recognized companies. In fact, the following companies are either headquartered in Plano or have regional offices here:

While many Plano residents commute to work in Dallas or other suburbs, many have a very short local commute.

How it All Began in Plano

In the early 1840s, several settlers came to the area around Plano. Facilities such as a sawmill, a gristmill, and a store brought more people to the area. Mail service was established, and after rejecting several names for the budding town (including naming it in honor of then-President Millard Fillmore), the locals suggested the name Plano, from the Spanish word for “flat,” a reference to the terrain of the area. The name was accepted by the post office.

In 1872, the completion of the Houston and Texas Railroads helped the city grow, and the population grew to more than 500 by 1874. In 1873, the city officially incorporated.

In 1881, a fire raged through the central business district, destroying most of the buildings: 63 in all. The town was rebuilt, and business again flourished through the 1880s. In 1895, the PISD (Plano Independent School District) was formed.

In more recent times, while other suburbs grew more quickly, Plano’s (then) relative distance caused it to grow more slowly. In 1970, the population reached almost 18,000. By 1980, population had grown to over 72,000. And by 1990, the population had almost doubled, to almost 129,000.
